Grain, Water, and Hops: The Basics of Beer at CIA

With the recent upsurge of craft breweries in America has come a newfound respect for the “working man’s drink.” Artisan beer is a complex beverage that, much like wine, may be evaluated in terms of color, aroma, mouthfeel, and finish.
In this introduction to beer,Culinary Institute of America (CIA) will explore a selection of beer types, from lighter tasting to heavier, “hoppier” varieties. We’ll also discuss how beer is made, sample a range of domestic and imported brews, learn beer tasting techniques, and gain an appreciation of beer and food pairing.
